Energy Savings & Global Warming Prevented by Using Spray Foam Insulation on Residential Housing

Insulation can significantly reduce energy use in buildings and prevent associated global warming. The screening study that serves as the topic for this presentation uses basic Life Cycle Assessment methods and energy consumption calculation methods to rapidly estimate the net energy savings and global warming reductions achieved when spray foam insulation is used in residential housing applications.

Findings from the screening study indicate that use of insulation for residential housing yields energy/global warming benefits that far outweigh energy consumed/global warming emissions generated from all other life cycle phases such as insulation manufacture, installation, transportation, etc.
